Dating without
Losing Yourself

Move from "no worries!" to "actually, here's what I want," with 35 guided journal prompts across five phases:
Notice, Untangle, Orient, Reauthor, Implement

these prompts are for you if…

01

You typed "no worries!" before you'd checked whether you had worries.

02

You've rewritten a two-line text six times so it sounds casual.

03

You cleared your Saturday plans the second they said they were free.

04

You want language that honors your intuition without overexplaining.

Imagine catching the "no worries" before you hit send. You notice the small drop in your chest, you know what it means, and you have somewhere to take it. You can tell the difference between being easygoing and going missing. You know one thing you want from this person and one thing you won't keep swallowing. You send the honest text, or you don't send anything yet, and either way it's your choice instead of a reflex.

Write As You Are: FOR WHEN YOU SELF- ABANDON WHEN DATING

A narrative-therapy–informed prompt guide for the woman who's great at making dating easy for everyone but herself. Across 35 prompts in five parts (Notice, Untangle, Orient, Reauthor, Implement), you'll catch the moment you start shrinking, untangle where the habit comes from, and practice answering honestly. A where-to-start list helps on busy days when you only have ten minutes. Rooted in the approach I use with clients, it treats the story you've been telling about being "low maintenance" as something you can revise.

You’re allowed to ask for what you want without overexplaining

What's inside?

35 prompts across five phases, seven in each. Every prompt has a second question underneath it, for when the first one opens something.

Notice: Stepping off autopilot and seeing the moment as it is.
Catch the "no worries" before it goes out, notice what you edit before you hit send, and pay attention to how you feel in the hour after a date.

Untangle: Telling the feeling apart from the thought.
Separate what you feel from what you're afraid will happen, and look at what "being easy" has cost you.

Orient: Seeing how you got here, with honesty and without blame.
Trace where you learned that keeping the peace keeps you safe, what your marriage or last relationship taught you about what you're allowed to need, and the times your read was right.

Reauthor: Choosing what this chapter means and picking up the pen.
Title this season of dating, name your non-negotiables, and remember that he's auditioning for a role in your life too.

Implement: Practicing it, one reply at a time.
Draft one honest reply, find your own version of "let me think about it," and plan how you'll take care of yourself if he's disappointed.

how it works

You’ll receive the prompts by email in a downloadable PDF you can print or use digitally. Move through them at your own pace in five parts, or dip into the one that fits today. Skip a prompt if it doesn’t land, and write past the page if you need more room. Most people complete a round in 1–2 weeks, then revisit as needed. You have lifetime access, and you can restart any time.

Support and safety: These prompts are a journaling resource for reflection. They don’t diagnose or treat anything, and purchasing doesn’t create a therapist–client relationship. If a prompt brings up more than you want to hold alone, pause, set it down, and reach out to a licensed therapist or someone you trust. If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW), EMDRIA‑certified, and founder of Huntsville Integrative Therapy. I specialize in narrative therapy for high‑achieving women. Years of sitting with women who’d never said certain things out loud taught me something simple: the page can hold what the moment couldn’t.

Frequently asked questions

IS THIS THERAPY
No. These are journaling prompts for reflection. They don't diagnose or treat anything and don't create a therapist–client relationship. If you want to go deeper with support, you can explore therapy locally or with Huntsville Integrative Therapy. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 in the US, or call 911.

WHO ARE THESE FOR?
Women who are dating, or about to start again, and notice they go along, go quiet, or go "chill" to keep things easy, then feel resentful or invisible later.

WHO ARE THESE NOT FOR?
Anyone who needs treatment, crisis support, or help leaving a relationship that feels unsafe. These prompts work best as a reflective companion alongside the care you need.

DO I HAVE TO GO IN ORDER?
It's recommended but not required. The five parts build on each other, and the where-to-start list is there for days you only have a few minutes.

DO I NEED TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP TO USE THESE PROMPTS?
No. They work whether you're mid-situationship, newly dating, or taking a break and want to understand your pattern before you start again.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
You set the pace. Some women do one prompt a night. Others use the where-to-start list and pick a single prompt before a date.

WHAT IF A PROMPT BRINGS UP SOMETHING HEAVY?
Pause and set it down. Come back later, skip it, or take it to someone you trust. If you feel unsafe, call or text 988 in the US, or call 911.

WHATS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
Because this is a digital download with immediate access, all sales are final. See our Policies page for details.
